Birthday Bags

This card was the result of an afternoon experimenting with some tissue paper and the Bitty Birthday stamp set. The stamp image has tissue coming out the top of the gifts bags and I wanted to see if I could replace that with real tissue for a great 3-D look.

Photobucket

I started by stamping the image and cutting out the tissue part of the image. I then took some small squares of tissue and 'scrunched' them to fit behind the bags in the way I wanted. I only had white tissue paper so I simply coloured it using my Stampin' Write Markers. To finish the effect I popped the bags up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Photobucket

As I chose a really bright colour scheme for the bags, I kept the rest of the card pretty simple. Overall I think the effect works - although it was a little fiddly!

Materials
Stamps: Bitty Birthday, Occasional Greetings
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pink Passion, Green Galore
Ink: Basic Black, Pink Passion, Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise Stampin' Write markers
Other: Rhinestone Brads, Tissue Paper

Hello There

This card started out completely different and eventually evolved into this. I wasn't too sure about the colour combo to start with, but it has really grown on me!

I really like all the layers on this card, paired with the texture of the kraft cardstock. The little bit of ribbon and Filigree Designer Brad add a nice finishing touch.

We have had the most amazing midwife who helped deliver all 3 of our children, and we always like to give her a little something on her last visit with us. A couple of days ago you will have seen the baby thanks card I made. Well I also whipped up this matching box to give our midwife Marg

Big Sister Card

We really wanted to do something special for our 3 year old at the time baby was born - just to help her with the transition to being a big sister, and making sure she knew how important she is to us, and how much we love her. A few weeks before Christmas, I found the perfect little gift to put away for her. Then I decided she also needed a special card to go with it:

Photobucket

Overall this card didn't come together quite how I saw it in my head. There are certain parts of it that I am really happy with - the colour combo, the layout and the butterfly. The big sister panel just doesn't work for me tho..

It's really hard to see the detail in the pics but the butterfly is pretty cool - to start with I stamped an image from Butterfly Prints onto acetate using White Stazon. Next I punched out the butterfly and turned it over to the wrong side, where I coated it with a layer of Crystal Effects. Then I scooped on the glitter and left it to try.

Materials
Stamps: Butterfly Prints, Jumbo Outline Alpha
Cardstock: Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, So Saffron Patterns DSP, Tea Party DSP
Ink: Rose Red, Watercolour Crayons
Other: Corner Rounder Punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Blender Pen, Buttons

Baby Thanks

I wanted to have a few thank you cards ready and put away to give to people who helped us during pregnancy/delivery etc. When I saw a tutorial on Dawn McVey's blog for these gorgeous flowers, I just knew they would be perfect on my baby thanks cards.

Photobucket

The flowers are so simple to make, and a great use of your scraps. Once I had designed the rest of the card, it was super quick to whip up a whole bunch of them.

Materials
Stamps: Polk Dot, Occasional Greetings
Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Patterns DSP
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey
Other: Word Window Punch, Eyelet Edge Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Buttons, String

Baby Decor Part 3 - Lamp

I couldn't find a lamp that was quite the right look & colours for baby's room, so ended up purchasing a plain white one in the shape I wanted, and then altering it with a few Stampin' Up! products.

To start with I used our Flower Fusion and Flower Fusion Too flowers to add a decorative touch around the top. To finish the flowers off I added some small beads to the centre:

Next up, I tied some ribbon around the bottom of the shade, but after several days of looking at it, it just wasn't quite right so I removed that and added some rub-on borders from the Bright Delights pack instead:

And heres the finished product:

I also used the same products to alter a cushion in a similar fashion. It just goes to show how versatile your stampin' supplies can be!

Baby Decor Part 2 - Mobile

Several months ago, Stampin' Up! featured a mobile in it's demonstrator magazine Impressions. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make one for baby's room! The bulk of the flowers (Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive) are from our Blooms Diecuts. Of course I wanted to add a splash of pink in there too, so I simply traced around several of the die-cut flowers onto Pretty in Pink and cut them out by hand - a lengthy process but worth it in the end!

Photobucket

Just to girlie it up a little more, I also added some butterflys to the mix:

While this mobile looks impressive - it is actually SUPER SIMPLE to make!

Materials
Stamps: Butterfly Prints, Circle Circus
Cardstock: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Blooms Die-cuts
Ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink
Other: 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 1/2" Circle Punches, Butterfly Punch, Embroidery Hoop, Fishing Line

Baby Decor Part 1 - Wall Art

Now that baby has arrived, I can start showing you some of the decor items I have been busy making for her room. I made, or altered several items using Stampin' Up! products, so will share them over the next few days.

First up is a little wall art, which is the middle in a series of 3 frames hung on the Pumpkin Pie feature wall:

Photobucket

The owl & branch are from our chipboard pack So Tweet. I simply covered them with patterned paper and cardstock. I mounted the chipboard on some Pretty in Pink c/s and then onto white cardstock. The finishing touch was the delight rub-on. Here's a closer look at the owl:
Photobucket

Here's a taste of what the frame looks like on the wall. The frames on either side hold pictures of baby's older siblings, which I simply matted with Pumpkin Pie c/s and then mounted onto Whisper White:

Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Sweet Always DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Old Olive
